Symbian Operating System (Research work)

Symbian is an operating system used in smart phones. Here, I discuss about some of the key features of the operating systems, get into areas of memory management, the client/server framework, and object scheduler to name a few. I also discuss different layers of the operating system, ranging from the top level User Interface framework to the kernel and hardware components, with complete illustrations. I also get into some history of Symbian. Two pdfs – one is the written report for my research, whereas the other is the presentation part. References were missed out in the presentation and are included in the essay.

Bluetooth (Research work)

This research project introduces the core concepts of the Bluetooth technology. It begins by highlighting the technical specifications of this technology – how the devices work and how networks are automatically established. Some applications of this technology are also discussed. It then provides an overview of the limitations and problems of using Bluetooth enabled devices. In closing, we discuss the future trends of Bluetooth.

Galaxy Exploration Simulation

This was a space exploration game with characters each having their own features and role. This was a multiple phase software development where I: – extended and maintained a existing working program – applied specific programming patterns – performed thorough systematic testing – provided extensive technical and user targeted documentation

Upgrading Lecture Schedule

I enhanced features of lecture schedules for the Department of Computer Science at York University. This included, creating a database using XML, using HTML and XML style sheets to add links to professors contact information, create maps of labs and class rooms and links to course descriptions via pop-up links. In addition to that, I also had the opportunity to design GUI’s that allowed users to check the consistency of the XML files and to access schedules without using an internet browser.

Developed Electric Resources Databank

Created and managed an educational resource bank. Components included an ASP.net application that takes input, file submission including lecture slides, videos, research work or sample exams , allow advanced searches for materials etc and displays information to users, using Web Services that in turn utilizes SQL, XML and ADO.net to access information stored in numerous databases including DB2 and MS Access databases.

Developed Electric Resources Databank

Studied and presented the functionality of kernel sub modules, like memory management, IO, Ext2 File system etc…individually and then showed how they are all connected and how they function as a whole, including detailed C code narration, diagrams and flow charts.
